Meyer Animals
These are hand-colored copperplate engravings by I. D. Meyer, published in Germany circa 1760. This exceptionally rare series is notable for depicting both the animal and its complete skeletal system on the same plate—a format unheard of in 18th-century natural history works. We currently have ten plates from this scarce series, each representing a unique subject.
