Giclee reproductions of Johann Christoph Volckamer's Nurenberg Hesperides. This series was first published in 1708 and were hand colored copper plate engravings. Lemons and Oranges were called Hesperides, the golden light of sunsets, who were the "Daughters of the Evening" in Greek mythology. Citrus or The Golden Apples were imported by the aristocracy of that day at great expense with a desire to have the greatest most bizarre and rare collections. We have edited this series to be slightly larger than the original prints. Printed on acid free cotton rag paper with archival inks. Print Size: 12x17 inches.
