CFA’s Illustrated Book of the Dog series was created digitally by Matt to bridge the gap between many of our favorite 19th-century dog illustrations and modern dog breeds. We are often asked for antique-style prints of breeds that simply did not exist—or were not formally recognized—at the time early illustrators were working.
This series allows us to preserve the look and character of classic antique dog prints while accurately showcasing breeds that emerged later. Each image is thoughtfully designed to reflect the composition, palette, and presentation of historical sporting and natural history illustrations, offering a cohesive aesthetic that blends tradition with modern breed representation.
All CFA Edition giclée reproductions are printed on acid-free cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks, ensuring excellent color fidelity and long-term stability.
